Steam & Gas Vent Silencers

Applied Vacuum vent and blowdown silencers find application in noise reduction of steam and other gases discharging to the atmosphere.

The source of the discharge is usually a relief valve venting to atmosphere or continuous emission of waste steam or other gases to atmosphere. The silencers can be fabricated to any required construction code and in any required materials of construction. The standard version is extremely robust.

The silencers are of the reactive, absorptive type. The incoming fluid stream enters a plenum chamber and passes through a number of perforated plate tubes set into a tube sheet. Each tube is surrounded by a fine stainless steel mesh whose function is to prevent the surroundings acoustical packing material from being dragged through the tube perforations.

The tubesheet bundle is removable to replace sound medium if required. A conical weather cowl is supplied as standard. The weather cowl is also removable.
